The Seed-to-Sky Garden Club meets in our building and expertly maintains the community garden in our parking lot. The Garden Club welcomes Cityview’s plant enthusiasts to join them in their program of ongoing learning.
On May 7th, join the Garden Club in learning about BC’s native bees! Weather permitting, the meeting will start by exploring the flowering plants around Cityview, and participants will learn how to see, identify, and appreciate native bees. Our bee exploration will be followed by a presentation that will help distinguish bees from other insects, describe bees’ many roles and relationships to the biosphere, and much more. Participants will also learn how to contribute to citizen science and other ways to support these friendly pollinators.
Schedule:
6:30 pm – If its not raining, meet at the Cityview parking lot on Sophia to go on a “bee safari”- a walk in the garden locating flowering plants and bees.
In case of rain, please come in through the main door on 28th Avenue. We will have a table set up with bee info.
7:00 pm – check in. Get some tea, and goodies and chat with Seed to Sky members and guests.
7:15 pm – Presentation by Christine Thuring all about BC’s native bees.
Christine Thuring is a plant- and urban ecologist with a passion for enhancing conditions for biodiversity. She has specialized in green roofs and urban ecology since 2001, and conducted research on this subject for a PhD (Landscape Ecology, University of Sheffield) and a MSc (Horticulture, Penn State University). Christine is a co-founder and current President of the Native Bee Society of BC, as well as the GRIN Green Roof Infrastructure Network of BC (grinbc.org). The Seed to Sky Garden club’s plant sale is a festive bi-annual event that raises money for the garden club. The club is a non profit group of enthusiastic gardeners and the plant sale helps provide money to pay for the knowledgeable speakers at monthly club meetings.
Historically the sale has been very popular with Little Mountain’s community of gardeners. Come early for the best selection of perennials, shrubs, small trees, ground covers, herbs, vegetable starts, and house plants!

Join us as we intentionally pause to spend time reflecting and seeking God in a week of prayer. Weeks of prayer are always a significant time of peace, individual and collective growth, and spiritual renewal at Cityview.
The theme for the week is Wrestling with God. Wrestling with those things that we struggle with as identified by you a couple of weeks ago. I believe this week can be very powerful and transforming as we intentionally spend time pondering with God, sitting with God, and yes, even wrestling with God!
Here's how to use the guide:
Read the passage for the day.
Listen to the worship song.
Read the passage a second time.
Sit with God and pray.
Reflect on the 4 questions listed in the guide
As always, we look forward to seeing how God moves amongst us and what is revealed to us over the week. If you are comfortable, please share on the whatsapp chat, in an email to Trevor, or during the feedback session on Sunday March 23, 2025.
Prayer Guides from past weeks of prayer are freely available on our resource page.

To demonstrate, Jill will be bringing live specimens, one of which she will donate to our draw table.

After taking the MG training and the Garden Design Program at UBC, she has applied her artistic flair to the many gardens she has created or remodeled.
