The Seed to Sky and Grandview Garden Clubs are delighted to be co-hosting one of Canada’s pre-eminent speakers and plant experts, Gary Lewis, on October 4, 2023.
PRESENTATION: “The Complete Talk on Groundcovers”
Gary Lewis’ presentation is a companion talk to his encyclopaedic The Complete Book of Ground Covers published in the fall of 2022. (Can you believe there are 4000 ground covers in the temperate world?) Gary will highlight the functional and aesthetic uses of ground covers including tips and tricks for designing with ground covers to take our gardens to the next level, and the range of functions ground covers can provide to make our gardens more sustainable. He will illustrate all these benefits and uses of ground covers with beautiful photos taken from his travels to gardens around the world.

OUR PRESENTER:
Gary has had a lifelong passion for plants. While completing his Masters of Science in Plant Ecology at UBC, he became the owner of Phoenix Perennials. Since then he has expanded Phoenix into an award-winning destination nursery for Western Canada with over 5000 different plants a year, many grown from plant material sourced from around the world. He added a Canadian mail order in 2013, and now ships more than 2500 plants from coast to coast to coast.
He speaks regularly at garden clubs, conferences, on radio and TV and has written for a variety of gardening magazines. No wonder that in 2013 he was selected as Communicator of the Year by the BC Landscape and Nursery Association. He 2017 he received the Retail Sales Award from the Perennial Plant Association
