The Seed-to-Sky Garden Club meets in our building and expertly maintains the community garden in our parking lot. The Garden Club welcomes Cityview’s plant enthusiasts and the general public to join them in their program of ongoing learning.
April 3rd topic: Soil fertility workshopt
Presenter: Eveline Wolterson, a physical chemist and soil scientist by profession, will be co-hosting with the Pacific Regional Society of Soil Science whom she describes as some of the best in the new generation of soil scientists.
The workshop will be a fun, informal event where we bring soil samples to be tested and talk to our hosts about how to manage our soil productivity. The lower church hall will be set up with tables all around.
It's a "hands on" event so wear your gardening clothes. Bring a soil sample to be tested. The weather forecast predicts no rain this coming Saturday, Sunday and Monday so they will be good days to collect your sample if you haven't done so already. If you don't have a sample to bring, come anyway and join in at a table for the conversation.
What to bring:
Soil sample and a second empty plastic container (with lid) as well as a clear, tall narrow glass jar
$5 to pay for your soil sample kit. Exact change will be helpful.
a donation to either the draw or refreshment tables
a mug for tea
$5 drop-in fee for non-members
