The Seed-to-Sky Garden Club meets in our building and expertly maintains the community garden in our parking lot. The Garden Club welcomes Cityview’s plant enthusiasts to join them in their program of ongoing learning.
PRESENTER:
Laurelle Oldford-Down is a retired Landscape Designer, local apple grower, member of the BC Fruit Testers Association, and "All-round crazy plant lady." She writes articles and is part of the social media team for Art's Nursery Home and Garden. As well, she instructs the Fruits and berries and the pruning portions of the Vancouver Master Gardeners Basic Training Program.
PRESENTATION:
Laurelle will demonstrate pruning on 3 or so live specimens on the church grounds starting 6:30 pm. For anyone who would like hands-on experience, bring your secateurs.
About 7 pm we will go inside to the Lower Hall, take a short break, and convene again at 7:15 for announcements before Laurelle resumes with a presentation with time for questions.
She wants to teach us "smart pruning," a practical approach to tree and shrub pruning to help us end up with beautiful and healthy plants.
WHAT TO BRING:
A mug for tea
A donation to the draw or refreshments table
A pillow to cushion your chair
