At Cityview Church We Value…
1. Intimacy with God
We are created to have a deeply personal relationship with God. Therefore, we fully give ourselves into an intimate relationship with the Living God, engaging with God through such spiritual habits as Scripture study, prayer, shared worship, and a life of personal daily worship. Mark 12:30; Psalm 63:1, 3-4, 6, 8
2. Biblical Authority
God speaks to us through the Bible today and we recognize it as the final authority for how we live our lives. Therefore, we look to Scripture as our guide in all circumstances and endeavours. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
3. Loving People
God passionately loves people irrespective of who they are and where they’ve been in life. Therefore, we intentionally seek to build relationships and love people with an intensity that compels us to share the good news of Jesus. John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
4. Authentic Relationships
Jesus teaches us to love one another. Therefore, we strive to be a community of people who journey together in safety and openness, valuing each other’s uniqueness. We are aware of our brokenness and recognize that this is a messy and vulnerable proposition and one that must involve grace, mercy, forgiveness, and compassion. John 13:35; Ephesians 4:2-3
5. Transformed Lives
God’s profound desire is for every person to be transformed into the likeness of Jesus. Therefore, we strive to create opportunities for people to go deep with God and continually encourage one another in this ongoing process of change. Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17
6. Personal Responsibility
Because we are each a unique part of the Body of Christ, we are each responsible to invest in God’s Kingdom. Therefore, we will be contributors, both by seeking ways to serve within the Cityview community and by being “salt and light” where we live, work, and play. 1 Peter 4:10; I Corinthians 12:12, 27
7. Intentional Gratitude and Outrageous Generosity
Gratitude changes what God is able to do in and through us. Therefore, we will choose gratitude in every circumstance, opportunity and relationship. Gratitude gives birth to generosity. Therefore, we seek to imitate God’s outrageous generosity toward us by being generous with our time, talents, money, actions, and attitudes. 1 Thessalonians 5:18; 2 Corinthians 9:8-11
8. Creativity
God’s character is expressed through God’s ongoing creation. Therefore, we take great joy in reflecting God’s creative character through curiosity, artistic expression, risk, initiative, and fun. Revelation 4:11; Ephesians 2:10; Colossians 1:16-17
